• Oyster mushroom grow kit instructions:

    This sawdust block has been myceliated with oyster mycelium and is ready to produce mushrooms. This can be done outdoors between April-November or indoors year-round.

    1. Slice the side of this bag in 1 or 2 places (slice should be 1-3”) with a sharp knife, mushrooms will fruit out of these holes. Baby mushroom pines will begin emerging within 2 weeks of opening.

    2. We suggest putting your block on a plate or tray, in an area with indirect sunlight and in a place where it can be watered daily. Keep in an area that is within 44-80F, oyster mushrooms grow best in these temperatures.

    3. Spray the openings you made on the block once or twice a day with water. Watch for the baby mushrooms “pins” to appear.

    4. Mushrooms grow quickly, once you see the baby pins emerging be prepared to harvest your first mushrooms within 2-3 days. Harvest before the caps flatten out and become soggy or soft.

    5. This mushroom growing kit is capable of growing approximately 2lbs of mushrooms, over the course of 3 months from the time you open it. You can expect 2 -4 flushes of mushrooms to grow. Once the kit stops producing you can use it to inoculate paper waster, coffee grounds or your compost. Check out instructions for how to do this on our website.

  • Shiitake mushroom grow kit instructions:

    This sawdust block has been myceliated with shiitake mycelium and is ready to produce mushrooms. This can be done outdoors between April – November, or indoors year- round.

    Indoors:

    1. Gently remove the block from the plastic bag, be cautious not too crack or break your block.

    2. We suggest putting your block on a plate or tray, in an area with indirect light and in a place where it can be watered daily.

    3. Spray your block once or twice a day with water. Watch for the baby mushroom “pins” to appear on all sides of the block.

    4. Mushrooms grow quickly, once you see the “pins” emerging keep a close watch, your shiitake’s will be ready to harvest in 4 -10 after pin formation. Harvest before the caps flatten out and become soggy or soft.

    5. To continue fruiting after your first harvest, we suggest letting the block rest and not watering it for 1 week. Following the resting period, soak your block in cold water for 30mins and repeat the daily spraying to bring in your second harvest.

    Outdoors:

    Follow the above instruction on daily care, make sure to keep it in a shady area and keep an eye out for pests (slugs, chipmunks, squirrels). If pests are prevalent try putting your block underneath a milk crate, fencing material, etc.

  • Lion’s mane mushroom grow kit instructions:

    This sawdust block has been myceliated with lion’s mane mycelium and is ready to produce mushrooms. This can be done outdoors between April-November or indoors year-round.

    1. Slice an “x” that is aprox. 1in. across with a sharp knife, mushrooms will fruit out of this “x”. baby mushroom pins will begin emerging within 2 weeks of opening.

    2. We suggest putting your block on a plate or tray, in an area with indirect light and in a place where it can be watered daily. keep in an area that is within 55 – 80F, lions mane mushrooms grow best in these temperatures.

    3. Spray the openings you made on the block once twice a day with water. watch for the baby mushroom “pins” to appear.

    4. Mushrooms grow quickly, once you see the baby pins emerging be prepared to harvest your first mushrooms within 4-6 days. Harvest once the “teeth” on the lions mane have formed and apprear distinct.

    5.
